イギリスとオランダ

　イギリスは曇りでオランダは晴れ。私の幼少期の思い出をまとめるとそうなる。
　イギリスはバスや電車に乗っても、学校でも、ロンドンやエッジワエアにいても晴れている記憶がない。歴史の重さなのか、石の重みなのか
　現地のイギリス人、ユダヤ人、中国人の印象なのか。

　オランダはアメリカン・インターナショナルスクールの思い出か他民族の思い出か、簡素で明るい街並みなのか、晴れている記憶しかない
　
　ただイギリスにいなければ、オランダにいなけれカトリックの洗礼は受けなかったなぜかそう思う

England and the Netherlands
England is cloudy, and the Netherlands is sunny. If I were to summarize my childhood memories, that would be it.

In England, whether on buses or trains, at school, in London or Edgware, I have no memories of sunny days. Was it the weight of history, the heaviness of the stone architecture, or the impression left by the local English, Jewish, and Chinese communities?

The Netherlands, on the other hand, is filled with memories of the American International School, the multicultural atmosphere, and its simple yet bright streets. In my recollections, the sun was always shining.

Yet, if I had not been in England, if I had not been in the Netherlands, I would not have received the Catholic baptism. Somehow, that thought remains with me.
