真面目は狭い　言葉が狭くなる

　8年ほど活動に参加したり、25年近く地域活動を見つめてきたが、自分で主体的に活動したのは、ここ9年だ。
9年の地域活動は、プラネタリウム、税、哲学等を地域とオンラインで展開して来た。
　
　どんどん広がるのは楽しいが、尻すぼみになる。真面目は狭い、言葉が狭くなるということなのだろう。井戸端会議のような
楽しさ、無駄さがないのだ。すこし週末まで遊んでみようかと思う。

Seriousness Narrows—And So Do Words

I’ve spent about eight years taking part in various initiatives and nearly twenty-five years simply watching community efforts unfold, but it’s only in the past nine years that I’ve taken the lead myself.
During those nine years I’ve hosted planetarium shows, run tax workshops, and explored philosophy—both on-site and online.

Watching things spread out is exhilarating, but they often taper off in the end. Perhaps that’s what happens when we stay too serious: the field gets narrow, our words get narrow. There’s none of the carefree, “useless” banter of a neighborhood chat around a well. Maybe I’ll give myself permission to play a little this weekend.
